Display Serial Interface
MIPI Display Serial Interface (DSI) is a high-speed differential signaling specification developed by MIPI Alliance. It was first formed in 2003, with subsequent releases of versions 1.0 in 2005, 1.1 in 2007, and version 1.2 in 2011. The latest versions, DSI v1.3, v1.4, and DSI-2, were released in 2013, 2016, and 2018 respectively.
DSI defines a communication protocol for controlling displays and touch controls in devices like smartphones, tablets, and automotive displays. The interface includes a clock lane and multiple data lanes for high-speed data transmission in low power or high-speed modes. It supports various display technologies and integrates image data with blanking intervals using Display Command Set (DCS) and Media Command Set (MCS).
Commonly found in infotainment systems, MIPI DSI enables efficient data transfer between the host processor and display panel. It is compatible with MIPI D-PHY and C-PHY, offering a standardized solution for display and touch control applications. The interface is widely used in modern electronic devices and is supported by technologies like FPD-Link, eDP (Embedded Displayport), and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface).
